For simplicity and consistency with Mastodon and Threads, I wonder if it’s time to reconsider upping Micro.blog’s character limit from 300 to 500. @manton and @jean (or anyone), what do you think?

@jarrod @jean I still like 300. I feel like we only bumped it up from 280 to 300 recently. Let’s wait a bit longer and reevaluate. (Note that we do preserve 500 characters when sending to Mastodon followers.)

@manton I like 300 too. I feel like taking it to far would move us outside the “micro” zone and this is called Micro.blog, after all.

@manton @fgtech Very true. Sometimes I forget that there’s no real “penalty” for going beyond the timeline character limit, just because I don’t use it that way.
