Lots of nice RSS in the new members-only subscriptions from MacStories. Interesting how different publishers approach building new tools… MacStories stuck with Memberful but built their own blog. Stratechery stuck with WordPress but built their own subscription management.

@manton have you ever thought about incorporating anything like payments and member content as a "creator-focus" feature for Micro.blog?

Most of the core is there with simple posting and podcasts already in.

@handy I've thought about it a little, mostly around newsletters when Substack was getting so much attention. It feels a little outside what we should focus on, but I wouldn't rule it out completely.

@manton I’d really like people to be able to subscribe to long-posts (or all posts, I guess) by email. This is one reason I occasionally look at alternatives. Right now I’ve solved by writing long posts in Hey World first and having them import via IFTTT.

@manton Maybe a step towards that direction while beneficial in itself could be to enable email subscriptions for podcasts and posts with titles. That way the emais won’t be sent to subscribers for every single micropost while also making sure they see the most important thoughts.

@manton Hmm, straying off the path of free and open source with paywalls and subscription-only posts and newsletters, are we? 👽

@uncertainquark @toddgrotenhuis I think that's a good idea. We've also thought about weekly emails that would collect microblog posts together. I wish I had that when I was sending out the Micro Monday newsletters.

@renevanbelzen We haven't strayed yet! 🙂 That is probably my biggest concern: we don't want to get distracted away from the very simple business model we currently have.

@manton I like things the way they are ... I would prefer to pay more per month/year than the service change.

@manton @uncertainquark I like the idea of doing untitled/micro posts as as catch-up/round-up

@terrygrier Thanks! I also like the way things are. To be clear, there are no changes planned other than making what we already have better.

@toddgrotenhuis @manton Seconding this idea, with the obvious bonus of being able to reply to someone’s post via email. I believe I read previous conversation this is something that can hopefully be brought to RSS as well?

@manton @terrygrier That's an interesting post from Seth. I think this is one of my favorite things about Micro.blog: anyone can post via paid hosting or feed cross-posting, but there is a human curation element to Discover.

@jean There's a Fifth Element reference I want to make on the tip of my consciousness but my kid must have eaten it back when he was nursing because I can't quite get it out of there.

@kimberlyhirsh @jean Dunno if I could repeat that dialogue verbatim but I could give it a good go.
