With WWDC mostly wrapped up, it’s time to look to IndieWebCamp West this weekend. Virtual doors open via Zoom at 9am Pacific, then keynotes, demos, and afternoon sessions.

@manton Hi Manton!! I have no idea what the best way is to contact you, but I had this Micro.blog open window already and it pulled you right up. This is Ki :)
@manton I don't actually listen to these, but I love the way these guys organize information: www.theminimalists.com/podcast/
@manton (only thing really different there is the very obvious permalink) and then Tim Ferriss (I actually never listen to this) has some autotranscription I think.
@manton And this is is what I was hoping you guys could do - sorry for the ridiculousness in advance, but I <3 Chase Reeves haha - www.youtube.com/watch
@manton Specifically if you click on "SHOW MORE" you can see his timecodes. Chase is a crazy man so maybe he does this by hand, but he's a web designer so I always figured he had software to do it. Maybe he has a VA... or maybe he really does do it manually.
@rebelle I would love to do more transcriptions. I've transcribed portions of a couple episodes, but we've never figured out a streamlined and cost-effective way to do it regularly.
@manton have not looked properly at this yet - but I have just been recommended otter.ai to solve that problem
@JohnPhilpin @manton Otter is awesome! I used it for many of my articles while in recovery from breaking my shoulder earlier this year. I love how it learns speech patterns with every use.
@jessekelber @handy that is really good to know - funnily enough it came up in relation to zoom ... and I never knew that on the zoom upgrade you get each speaker as a seperate track - very useful ... Thankyou for confirming satisfaction
@JohnPhilpin you bet. Now, I just spoke into the app on my phone, haven’t tried any form of file upload, but can’t imagine it’s not just as great.
@jessekelber @JohnPhilpin Good to know, thanks! We’ve been using Trint, which is really nice, but their new pricing is making us reconsider what tool to use.

More on Otter
Otter.ai ties into Drop Box
IF you point your (save Zoom) folder at Otter - even a sub folder inside Otter - as soon as you stop recording, Otter sets about transcribing your recording and drops a pdf transcription right along side you zoom files.
Care still with working through the actual words - but NOTHING is 100!
