I think micro.blog is going to get very interesting once the APIs for all these random social networks fill out.#

💬 Dave Winer

Nice - and prolly right. Which reminds me.

Blogrolls …

On the @dave blogroll 🔗 at scripting.com his order pushes blogs with ‘latest post’ to the top - any plans on something like that for Micro Blog @manton ?

@JohnPhilpin No plans for that right now. It’s extensible so someone else could build one or we could add something like that.

Anyone else interested?

Anyone else interested with the tech chops to extend the core product?

@manton Continuing the conversation - @dave singing your praises over on Scripting - hadn't quite grokked that you were synching with him - KUDOS.

On both his blogroll and yours - you can download the OPML file - is that a future dev for your MicroBlog recommendations?

Also - any thoughts of promoting a community in side of MicroBlog somewhere - where you list anyone who has a blogroll.

Use case ..

I really like fred and jade and cynthia - would love to follow the RSS feeds that they follow - I already follow all the microbloggers they follow - but I want to reach outside of this eco system.

I got to micro.blog/ourRSSfeeds

I can see Jade - and can download her opml and merge the ones I want into mine - AND/OR - I just click merge and they all just come together in one giant glorious OPML fest.

And I know I can go the sites of fred and cynthia - to see if they have one enabled - but how much easier if there was a single index.

MAYBE there is even a giant merged list of ALL Migrobloggers OPMLS - now THAT would be a 'river' - right?

// paging @AndySylvester - have you looked at any of this?

@JohnPhilpin You can download OPML for anyone's blogroll on the web by clicking on their profile, then the "Recommends 123 blogs" link, then the download link. For a list of all blogrolls, maybe, I think we can do more like that as more people use the feature.

@manton Thankyou - there's that 'on the web' part of the instructions again :-) .. somehow I never think of that - I'm an app kinda guy.

And I know that I can get to a profile from the app - but it doesn’t seem to me to be consistent?. Maybe we could more clearly provide a link to the profile in this view?

MicroBlogTimeLine

P.S. (2 minutes later)

Oh - while I am here - can we also get 'copy markdown' on an image in uploads on the mac app please?

@JohnPhilpin Hold down the option key while right-clicking on an image in the Mac app and it changes to "Copy Markdown". You're right on the profile, we need to make that consistent on the Mac too.

@manton option click - well who knew THAT! Thankyou - though now it is there - is there any reason why it just isn't a 4th option? in the main list?

@JohnPhilpin It could be the 4th, but I was thinking most people would want HTML by default. Some of the other menus work the same way.

@manton with it being hidden - I guess html would rise to be more popular if you looked at the data. Case in point - me. Even though (Imports aside) I try to keep my blog in Markdown whenever I can - I have often used the HTML - because I needed it quick and copying a link into markdown syntax was a step too far.

Now - IF I remember - it will be in Markdown - as a fourth choice - I wouldn’t forget :-)

@JohnPhilpin I have been watching this activity with interest, but have not done any playing around with it yet....

@AndySylvester turns out that exposing your blog roll on the site is a darn sight easier than working out what you choose to expose … easily done if your RSS feeds are organized, so, next job is ongoing … properly curating my feeds on NetNewsWire so that I can reveal 3 or 4 useful, categorized SHORT lists rather than a dump of what appears to be everything )yet sadly is not .. what is there is around 10% of the feeds I have in NetNewsWire.

In parallel .. I am sorting out a new Wordpress site for a new initiative that I occasionally hint at .. though have not yet formally launched .. and Dave’s Wordpress plugin for blog rolls might be just be what I need.

Still Thinking.
