So I’m moving and considering a storage unit but what if instead I sold all my shit
@miguelmanalo Sell as much of it as you can. Give the rest away. Donate.
Replace very slowly.
@miguelmanalo I got my first storage unit a year ago. I didn't know how long I would be renting this furnished house I'm in, and I didn't want to get rid of my bed, couch, table and shelves. I'm spending more than $100/month. It will be worth it if I move to my own place soonish (I'm looking!) but it will be annoying if I stay here in the furnished house for another year. It's a crapshoot. I know people who store stuff for years that they didn't really need. I think the whole business is a bit shifty. They tried to raise my rate by 75% after six months, and I was able to negotiate it down to just 50% increase. The short answer: I vote "get rid of your stuff"!
@miguelmanalo A friend sells things the moment he stops using them. When I mentioned that I can’t do that because I’d immediately need it again, he said, “then I just go to Craigslist and buy it again. I’m storing my stuff in the Cloud!”
@miguelmanalo I get that. I am looking forward to getting my bed and couch back. Try to get the smallest possible storage. I took a larger size because it was discounted. There is stuff I could have gotten rid of but since I didn’t have to, I just postponed the culling.
