Micro Monday is a day to explore strange new worlds… or at least to find new people to follow. Let’s do a new roll call and boldly go where I have wanted to for a long time: Star Trek. Hail us with a reply. What’s your favorite? No spoilers for New Trek, please! 🖖

@jean I never knew favourite could be so contextual. The Original Series is a favourite because I watched it as a kid and fell in love. It's part of my very being. Voyager is a favourite because I watched it as an adult and loved Janeway as Captain and the other significant female characters. Discovery is a favourite for the female characters and the sheer creativity of it all. Strange New Worlds was an instant favourite because it took me right back to TOS but with modern ideas around characters. 🖖

@jean The original series was such a fundamental part of my love of SF and I had the episode guide and technical manual and have watched it so many times. Then saw the films and Next Generation, Deep Space Nine, and Voyager. Then more sporadic but still enjoying it. 🖖🏼

@jean I have great memories of watching The Next Generation with my dad but haven’t watched Star Trek or followed it in many years.

@jean Deep Space Nine is still definitely my overall favorite, but I like all the series, and have especially enjoyed all of the new series lately. 🖖

@jean the original series was a family must when I was a kid. Truthfully love them all though the later movies lost some of the humanism in favor of shoot them up pandering to modern audiences…

@jean TNG was what I grew up with; Picard and Data remain role models for me. DS9 is probably my favorite, with Discovery season 3 a close second. I love individual characters and episodes in Voyager, but not the series as a whole.

I haven’t seen Lower Decks, and Picard just doesn’t feel like Star Trek, as much as I love it. It feels like an interpretation of it, a character study more than a show. It’s why I love it, but for me Trek is about exploration, humanism and ideals.

Am currently waiting for Strange New Worlds to end so I can binge it!

@jean TNG is my favourite and TOS was second but I think SNW might take that spot if it keeps going the way it is. I’m loving the return to the adventure a week approach.

I’m just started rewatching Enterprise and it was interesting to see the protagonists in the early episodes pop up in the latest SNW. Nice bit of continuity. 🖖

@jean

I have a fondness for TNG because it’s what was on when I was a kid and because LeVar was in it and on Reading Rainbow, another show I loved. My mom has an aversion to Star Trek because of home movie memories.

@jean As I’ve seen TNG the most, I’ll have to vote for that, but I like the original movies too. There is however so much that I haven’t seen yet. 🚀

@jean TNG is dearest to my heart, as I grew up with it. It took me from ages 6 to 13, through multiple moves, 6 schools, and the birth of my brother. The crew of the Enterprise D feel like old friends.

@jean It's a long time since I've seen any eposiodes but not uniterested in it. Mostly liked the original Enterprise and Voyager series as a child / young adult. And the old movies.

@jean I'm a very new trekkie! In the last couple months I watched 6/7 seasons of TNG, a couple of old school films. I did watch each of the 3 "rebooted" films when they came out, was not impressed, except for the very good performances by actors. The old stuff has way more meat to it.

@jean I like TNG the most, but Discovery was also pretty good. I like the TNG episode where they’re in a timeloop and crash into another ship the best, but best of both worlds is also amazing.

@jean I grew up watching TOS/TAS, so it will always be “home”. TNG was our high school obsession, gathering with my friends at someone’s home each week to watch it. DS9 I didn’t watch until it was out on DVD, but I’ve long thought it was the best as far as a complete start-to-finish story. Eventually got around to watching VOY and ENT, which I enjoy and have their moments, but still end up at the bottom of my lists.

As all the new shows are still in progress, I’m reserving judgement on any ranking decisions, but I’m enjoying all of them, with LDS and SNW my current favorites of the new batch.

@jean I realize I never added my own comment on this thread. Voyager is my favorite. I even wrote an episode guide and host a podcast about it. I also do a @ProdigyFlashcast with my 8 year old nephew. I will watch any Star Trek any time, and I can't pick a second favorite series. Favorite captain is Janeway, of course.

@jean One of the most enjoyable things my wife and I did was introduce our daughter to Star Trek by watching TNG, DS9, and Voyager in order. Now we wait for each Strange New Worlds episode to drop together.

@jean Generally a Trek fan; TNG is the one show I've watched front to back, maybe 6-8 years ago. I also really liked the first two seasons of Discovery—one of these days I'll get that subscription going again so I can catch up on all the new stuff.

@jean TNG is my favorite (I started playing the trombone because Riker played it!), but I think DS9 is thematically the “purest” Star Trek.

Not sure if this is the thread for this, but I don’t feel like there’s been anything since Voyager that’s succeeded at being Star Trek-y.
