looking for recs!

a friend wants to move off squarespace and try to put together their own website. they don't have a ton of coding experience but are willing to poke around a little bit to see what's possible. a few tools that came to mind were mmm.page/ and neocities.org/, maybe yay.boo/ just as a hosting solution, but i haven't used many of these tools myself to know what might be a good fit.

help?

@kayserifserif Neocities and yay.boo are lovely but you are building from scratch - yay.boo doesn't really even give you any guidance, Neocities does though! Lots of nice tutorials.

Depends how much they want to poke around ... Like starting from scratch or having something premade to mess with?

@kayserifserif
Try sutty.nl/en/

It's secure, resilient, ecological, and free as freedom and as beer too.
(better usability and more themes in progress). :)

@kayserifserif GitHub are kind of evil but it's pretty easy to put stuff on there using their Pages system

@kayserifserif Check out pika.page. This is a great newer simple site builder. I have tried every one mentioned in this post and this is where I'm landing.
