The Euros final have united people in England ? I beg to differ. Our arcade event is next Tuesday evening in London and today this is a message from one of my students. (they agreed I could share)

@adamprocter It’s truly sickening this has been the reaction by some people, that’s very hard to read.

@AlanGMarz Agreed, and not just for this reason. I wonder what FB for example gets out of user anonymity? Except being able to attract people who want it for unsavory purposes. I guess I can think of cases like those who are avoiding stalkers etc. but those are probably few enough that they could be handled case by case.

Re. anonymity on socials: I suspect it's costly to do well (e.g. hire SterlingBackCheck) per user: remember how low per-user margins are on socials (all about scale). Even delivery companies only recently added this cost. More sinsterly, it would remove many accounts which prolifically post content which drive engagement (meme accounts etc.). It's only really possible in paid social model... enter M.b. It's why I'm keen for M.b. to start slowly expanding to include wider audience of real individual content creators (cf my upcoming @micromonday appearance) to lead the way!
