John Gruber writing about Trump’s new blog:

He should have had a blog like this all along. This is exactly why being kicked off Twitter and suspended from Facebook doesn’t silence or censor Trump, in the same way that being banned from a restaurant doesn’t starve someone.

@manton “looked much like a Twitter feed” and “quasi-court” are probably in the dystopian playbook.

@manton I laugh when people getting kicked out of a closed "platform" then discover the magic of having a blog. :)

@zsbenke Maybe he'll end up liking it! 🙂 But I think he can't resist the megaphone and amplification of platforms like Twitter.

@manton remember when I asked you how long before a major politician gets a micro.blog? You must be relieved this wasn't the first! When folks see Dons, and Dom Cummings's over here 🇬🇧, I think there'll be a wave of new politician blogs, and surely some will go M.b.

@manton you can't add it to @NetNewsWire (seemingly no RSS feed) so is it really a blog?!

@w4rner I still consider it a blog, but it is definitely half-baked. I love the like buttons that don't actually do anything!

@manton @w4rner he's got his own 'micro' blog there! I also wondered why he didn't go for a more centralised blog earlier... I'd imagine this took someone about 2mins to set-up on his site. He literally could have said in his departure speech - follow me @ donaldjtrump.com/desk (though, that said, maybe he might've been censored...).

@manton they make the heart go red! Does the code suggest there's no internal logging on them?

@w4rner Ah, that's new! They didn’t change color before.

@manton I reckon it's a micro.blogger running his tech stack. Show yourself!

@jasraj the feeling I get is that he expects right-wing news hacks to bookmark this, hit refresh every hour and when they see a new post, quickly hack a write-up to amplify the message, quoting his latest missive to The Platform. Which they will.
