Apple called me back about Inkwell rejections. Still rejected, but we were able to talk through the issues and resolve one of them. Progress. It’s fascinating to me how they handle these calls… In all my years of shipping apps, I’ve never had to actually talk to app review outside of a web form.

@manton I’ve done it a number of times for 1Password and I love it. The person on the other end always has a first name and never a last name. Sometimes you get the same person, and sometimes you get a new person. I always have fun with how mysterious they have to be to protect their identity. 😄

@MrRooni Also, “We don’t consent to be recorded.” 🙂 My person was pleasant and helpful, though.

@manton Oh, I’ve had that one, too! 😆

Yeah, they’re always really nice.

@manton I did talk to them on the phone at least once… and it was not a good phone call 🫣 (“no, we don’t want this app on the App Store, and no, we won’t tell you why”)

@manton I’m guessing that’s a good thing? These days “getting to a human” is a boss battle in almost every support process.

Besides solving the one thing did it make sense in terms of why the rejections? Apple reasoning doesn’t seem to make sense from last time I asked 🤔

@MrRooni @manton I seem to remember the WWDC labs signup tells you “no recording” too and first names only very friendly & helpful.

Maybe this will be the year they stop using WEBEX🤢

@jtr It “makes sense” only if you view things through Apple’s narrow view of the world and third-party apps. I still disagree with them and will need to escalate with an appeal if the next build gets stuck (which I’m sure it will)
