Having second thoughts on the laptop repair. Maybe I’ll just save up for a new laptop… put aside the income from my projects for a few months (minus expenses).
€2600 for a MacBook Air 15"… or €700 for a laptop repair 🤔

@vincent Do you have one of the models with the broken "butterfly" keyboard design? I think you do but my memory is rubbish.
@vincent oof. Yeah, it does seem like you'd get the repair and then it'll just break again; at least, that's what lots of people were saying about each version of those machines. Given how good the newer machines are in that and other ways, waiting is the best decision.
That is crappy, though... still feel like the company has failed to appropriately address this mess.
@SimonWoods yeah, so I wanted to get it replace early last year, which was still in warranty… but… they would take the machine for up to 2 weeks because it would be sent away, and that was a no go for me. Later last year, or this, they finally got an in-house repair shop, and I didn’t know 😕
Apple should replace these for life.
And yes, I don’t want someone to open the machine up… because I’ll feel dirty… and probably going to upset the zen of the machine (and probably break anyway).
@vincent It really is the worst.
It reminds me of the regret I have for choosing the cheapest configuration on the iMac. I was a little surprised by how relatively complicated choosing a Mac can be, since before I got interested in the company (after getting my first iPhone) one of the big selling points from the fans was how everything was simpler and easier from the start. No doubt it's better than my experiences with Windows but that's not supposed to be the high bar that, again, the evangelists claim is normal for Apple.
Not that I have any interest in going any other way, at least not for personal/mixed use. Still feels too much like the best of a bad bunch rather than the proclaimed cut above the rest.
