I've been making a few changes to Tinylytics and a dedicated update blog and documentation is coming soon. However, just added something fun...

You can add: "?show_hits" to your embed code, and then anywhere on your site add an element with a class of "tinylytics_hits" and you'll get a hit counter!

@vincent Looks cool.

BTW you should perhaps run a test-control experiment on blogs that have installed this. Are the ones that have installed it more likely to post content that requires readers to click through to their blog to read more?

@vincent You're doing some cool stuff with this. I added it my blog a couple days ago, but traffic is still showing as zero. I thought it might be an issue with using www, but I removed that to try. Nothing as of yet. I know it's early, and I'm cool with that. Just wanted to ping you in case it helps.

@Mtt Thanks, will look into it for you. At the moment www would be classed as a subdomain, and unless the site is set up with exactly that, it won't record hits.

@vincent Who asked about this a couple of days ago? An old school hit counter?

@Mtt OK, please add "www" in your site and also make sure to embed the code in your theme. I can't see it show up.

@vincent Yeah, I put that in by habit. When I went to see numbers, I realized it and changed it. Nothing has updated yet as for as traffic, but that 'edit' I made could be the issue (either delaying stuff or breaking stuff). I think this will be a big deal here, I really do.

@JohnPhilpin Damn it. I fell for it. Deduct that hit from your count.

@vincent no way! I recently removed some analytics from my site as I did not use/care for them. But I wanted a site counter for ages! I’ll install it!!! Thanks a bunch for making it! 😊 😃

@Mtt I'm gonna automatically recognise the www subdomain also, because I can see that your site doesn't redirect when not using it. Please double check your embed code is in your theme also.

@vincent A little lost-in-the-replies moment there. I went the opposite route and changed tinylytics to the non www version. I removed the code, re-added it, and rebuilt it on micro.blog. Now seems to be working fine.

@vincent Once you're production ready (or even before), I'm gonna add this to the Tiny Theme (probably instead of Fathom) for ease-of-use for others. Let them paste in the embed code and probably a shortcode for the hit counter. Although you might be planning a plugin of your own for that?
