@Manton is Micro.blog going to support Mastodon? I don’t know if they have an API…
@smith There are a few APIs. We're considering it! But also want to make sure any support for Mastodon stays true to what Micro.blog is about. Probably won't rush into anything until the dust settles.
@manton Would there be any chance of, as a stop-gap measure until then, add the ability to support cross-posting? Either by grabbing posts from my Mastodon account's RSS feed or like the Twitter crossposting support?
@uliwitness Probably, although might be good to roll out a couple things at once. You can add a Mastodon RSS feed to Micro.blog today, but the feed is a little strange for some things. I don't recommend it yet unless you're sticking to normal posts (with no boosts or replies).
@manton Is that the "add feed" thing where Twitter crossposting is? It doesn't say what adding a feed will actually do, so I assumed it was some way to WRITE a feed somewhere else or so ...
@uliwitness Yep, that's it. I tried to explain what that page does in the top paragraph, but I know it's still confusing. I've been thinking of a way to redesign it. (Just to reiterate, I don't think Mastodon feeds look very good in Micro.blog right now except in very limited cases.)
@manton By the way: If MPL 2.0 is a license you can work with (or the author is willing to re-license for you), Amaroq has been open sourced, and seems to contain a bunch of Mastodon classes: github.com/ReticentJ...
