Further to the Gutenberg editor and the inadequacies of WordPress for those of us who are focused more on publishing the things we make, yesterday I posted my Micro.blog wishlist. I didn’t mention categories or custom homepage, since Manton has already spoken about those.

@simonwoods Great list! The only thing I would mention is the IndieAuth header should probably changed to Micropub (the technical side behind likes reposts, etc) or IndieWeb (as a less technical umbrella). IndieAuth itself is already fully supported by Micro.blog and is simply about logging in via your url.

@EddieHinkle Oh good catch. One of the older ones I missed. Thanks!

@simonwoods good list. On the accessibility side, the latest iOS release has support for adding alt tags to images and we improved the VO support. We have one more VO fix coming in the next dot release as well.

@cheesemaker Thanks. Yep! That was a great release btw, I forgot to say so. I think the app can be the sharp edge of the sword for moving people away from the silos so it's good to see it leading the charge with those changes.

@simonwoods since I'm new here, what did he say about categories?

@simonwoods I like your list except would heavily advocate against like/emoji-like support. Part of what makes micro.blog good is supporting text replies instead of the slot-machine dopamine attention-economy models.

@toddgrotenhuis Thanks! What I like about the IndieWeb 'like' is that it can work separately from the paradigm set by the silos.

@toddgrotenhuis Also, I should have given details about this but I also don't want the functionality built into the timeline; rather, just support for the IndieWeb standard, like in the way IndieAuth is supported. So you'd still have to go through the effort to set up the 'like' functionality on your own end, which ought to help combat the shallow system enabled by the silos.

@fcy There have been mentions on and off since it's a highly requested feature. It was part of the recent Micro Monday Q&A special with Manton at 14:10. He then also mentioned within the context of photos in his post about Microgram. From the sounds of it this is going to be the singular taxonomy option and I am very happy about that as I find the choices in WordPress to be a muddled mess.

@simonwoods thanks for the links! I really like how @mantom is really thoughtful about every single detail.
