@maique I’m curious… If there was an easy way to have Micro.blog copy Hey World posts into your microblog (instead of just the timeline here) would you enable that? Or do you prefer that the Hey posts are only separate?

@manton if I may chime in… I would enable it for sure, hoping it would keep it as is (with all the formatting). But my question for you is: why would you implement it for HEY World specifically? Why not other platforms (or maybe you do and I don’t know… ) 🤨🤷🏻♂️
@numericcitizen @manton (my guess before Manton answers: something to do with HEY being more open to such a feature, as opposed to the many alternative platforms that are mostly locked down)
From a feature POV, I like this idea. It makes sense since HEY isn’t trying to be a full hosted blog, at least not yet by the looks of it; rather they favour using email or RSS to read the posts, whilst your Hey World posts are listed on more of a profile than a full site.
As such, if you like both Hey World and Micro.blog, and then sometimes wanted your Hey World posts to also be hosted somewhere with greater permanence all you would have to do is select Micro.blog for the direct copy-post solution. Makes sense especially when you consider the substantial prominence given to custom domain culture on Micro.blog.
@numericcitizen Yeah, “under the hood” this kind of feature could work with many other platforms (if as @simonwoods says they are at least a little open), but my thought was maybe Hey World could serve as a trial run. Still thinking about it.
@manton Nice thought - would you consider the possibility of posting to micro.blog hosted blogs via email? Wouldn’t it enable a similar, yet simpler option for all types of email clients? Including Hey?
@amit Definitely. Posting via email (or even SMS) has been somewhere on the to-do list forever.
@gpittman Thanks! I feel like that’s what a lot of people are doing… It’s new, so it’s fun to tinker with the new thing. Only later will we really know whether it stays a part of people’s workflow.
@amit @manton per a previous request one of the nice things with Hey (and write.as) is a a built in email subscription. Lot of folks want to follow but can’t swing feeds yet.
Easily adding pictures where you want them, while editing, is also a big leg up.
Both of these could come to micro.blog, of course. But I also like the idea of auto-importing here!
