@atpfm @siracusa @marcoarment @caseyliss My guess for the reason that (1) corrective inserts have to be scanned in setup and (2) mechanical adjustability isn’t a practical solution…

…is that these distortions affect the eye-tracking calibration mapping in such a way that they can’t be properly accounted for through the “look at these targets” procedure alone.

Really interesting point that briefly came up in the latest Talk Show episode with Marco: would Uber and related apps have emerged in an iPhone-less alternative universe? Or to rephrase: was mass market smartphone inevitable?

@atpfm Re: e-mail backups: I use the commandline tool mbsync (https://isync.sourceforge.io/mbsync.html) to back up my IMAP-accessible email to standard maildir format locally.

After your initial backup completes, it only pulls incremental changes on subsequent runs, so it’s very fast!

It’s not the easiest tool to configure, but it works a treat for the type of person who would take the time to set it up (apparently me.)
