It didn’t took nearly as long as I initially thought but just finished reading: The Shadow Rising: Book Four of ‘The Wheel of Time’ by Robert Jordan. I think I should read something else for a change, but then again really would like to see how the story continues. So… 📚

@herself Yay! Jup, I still have to watch the show, but hardly have any time to do so. How are you liking it (the books)?
@svenseebeck I like them, but to be honest I’m not sure how much further I’ll go. I’m frustrated by a lot of the characters’ actions. I vacillate between liking the female characters and then wishing they had better stories. And Rand is so bland. Etc. Hehe. How about you?
(Plus I want to go back and reread Tad Williams’ Dragonbone Chair (and I never finished that series either, and would like to.))
@herself I get that. There had been moments I been annoyed by some of the actions of the characters, in a way that I wondered "why would you do that/react like that"! Overall I enjoy the story a lot though.
I "think" though that after this book I really "should" read something else for a change. Maybe one tiny little book...
@svenseebeck I have found myself thinking about the characters and the story, which is probably a sign to continue. But I agree, maybe a palate-cleanser from time-to-time…
@herself 🤣 I'm now about halfway through the fifth book and every now and then already swear like them in the books. I guess it is time to have a break off of that series after this one I guess.
As for the female characters: they are getting larger roles in the latter books I read.
@svenseebeck @herself I read the first 2 books last year and kind of stalled... This conversation actually makes me want to pick it up again, though. I've heard great things about the final books.
@svenseebeck that’s cool. I’ve heard there’s a bit of a low point around book six (or so?) but then it picks up again…
@herself Definitely, the length of the series is a big part of why I took a break from reading it... I'd like to finish it eventually but not really in a hurry.
@herself My guess is that would take me about a year to finish all of them. 🙈And that only if I don't read anything else... Light, burn me, I will have to have a break after this. Even if it is only a short one.
