@pratik Seems like a tough situation. Want to give kudos for maintaining such a positive attitude through this. Good luck.
@pratik well damn /: I think your attitude is a good one though, and perhaps this shift results in something much better for you.
@jsonbecker Sure is. Mostly lack of communication across to the team and lack of clarity for me. But then again, this is not new for my workplace.
@vazquez @rscottjones This has definitely made me rethink my career moves and life priorities. Also, I don't want to be moored to a location and may prefer fully remote options. So yeah, let's see what's in store for the future.
@pratik Wow. The lack of communication is incredibly frustrating. We just had an unexpected leadership change in our division — also higher ed — and everything is a little up in the air. It absolutely makes you reevaluate your priorities and assumptions. Good luck navigating everything.
@pratik This sounds super stressful. I hope good things come of it for you, whatever happens.
@pratik Ugh, that sounds pretty painful and yes I'd be stressed too. That said maybe the time you have on your hands with new role may be a good time to start searching for another?
@bobwertz @KimberlyHirsh The communications part irked me more. But then I shouldn't be because it's par for the course. But yes, I'm looking at the silver lining for now.
@stupendousman Stressed was the understatement, but strangely, much less than before, thanks to GC. But yeah, if my role is going to be changed, I can use the opportunity to look for a new place. Heck, I wouldn't mind a role in an ed tech company now, although non-profits and foundations will be my first choice. Let me know if you have any leads 😉
@pratik You are one of the smartest and temperamentally coolest person I know. It's the department's loss if they are not utilizing your expertise. I am happy that you have some buffer time to think of alternatives. Good luck and best wishes.
@pratik ummm .. wow. They clearly need help in basic 'old style' management principles - and that would be just to start.
we talked about values, work cultures, and other immutable aspects that I wasn’t willing to compromise regardless of what happened next.
... is the bit I would reiterate - and add in the advice to 'be proactive'.
Good luck.
@pratik Man, that sounds horribly stressful, I'm sorry! I'm glad things seem to be looking up now, but still, it seems to make a lot of sense to consider your next options.
@pratik Good luck, especially with balancing life and career. There never seems to be a clear formula, especially when source of income becomes a concern.
@artkavanagh @vazquez Thanks. It is stressful especially when things are this vague and unclear. Sometimes it's just good to know either way. But I'm considering it a good thing for the short-term.
