I seem to have made a serious AWS pricing miscalculation, transferring a bunch of small files from EC2 to S3. Data transfer is free, but PUT requests aren’t. With millions of requests, adds up to real money. This is why I usually prefer Linode’s flat pricing.

@manton I agree 100%. I’ve avoided AWS this long mostly just because of the uncertainty.

@DazeEnd Avoiding it is a good strategy. Micro.blog is about 90% on Linode, and maybe should be more.

@manton do you have business support or above on the axxount? If yes try contacting support to waive it off for miscalculation - they may in many circumstances.

@supremus Interesting. Nope, no support plan.

@manton full disclaimer - this is my second stint of working there and in my first stint it was very regular for us to negate things like this on behalf of customer. Anyone could do it - now it’s become a lot more complex and process heavy and I no longer belong to same teams so not sure what’s up now. If it’s a significant amount pls feel free to email me through my contact email on account (with account id) and I can pass it to SA friend of mine. Though I make no promises at all, I could give it a try and see what happens.
