@aeryn I'm curious about public.me too. It's such a clever solution. The RSS feeds also seem to be working well with Micro.blog, so someone could use it and have the posts copied over to their blog.
@manton — hey, I see I willed this discussion into being:
@manton but would micro.blog feed posts all have a title like “aeryn’s post”, instead of the body text?
@aeryn Oh, actually I think you're right. I may have misunderstood what I was looking at earlier. Ideally the feed would not include titles.
@manton right? Different services using RSS fields in certain ways kinda breaks compatibility. For example Glass.Photo puts the text in the RSS title with the body containing only the photo.
Feature request. Maybe we could choose which fields are published to MB feed on a per source basis? I dunno. Maybe that’s a big ask and could create a lot of confusion.
:)
@aeryn Hate that about Glass too. It dissuades you from having long text descriptions. With the new Series feature, it blasts all ten photos as separate posts. I’ve disconnected Glass from Micro.blog for now.
@aeryn Something like Zapier triggers on RSS and lets you create RSS items as an action. So you can use it to move fields around and reformat or filter the feed. I used to use Yahoo Pipes for this sort of thing back in day. I miss Yahoo Pipes. 😔
@incongruousm I use IFTTT but I don’t find it useful for images at all. I am reluctant to get into the weeds of managing something like Zapier. I tried it before and didn’t enjoy it. I miss Pipes too. 🫡
