PSA: If an iOS update comes out, don’t think about updating it right before going to bed.
Why is this still a multi-hour thing?

@maique a really good question especially given frequency of updates

@maique I apparently didn’t read your PSA in time. The funny thing, was that my older iPad Air 2 finished updating before my iPhone 12. 😂

@mbkriegh I’ve complained before too, because I can’t understand it. I’m sure the engineers know what they’re doing, but it’s puzzling to me. A Linux update takes minutes, and this goes on, and on, and on…

@maique 15.2? My 12 Pro updated pretty quickly here. Was download and validation or the actual install?

@spratte Yes, 15.2. My phone is older, X. Downloading was slow, but maybe the phone is not to blame; verification takes FOREVER; installing a bit longer than expected. All in all is not a great experience.

@maique I don't share this experience with updates. Especially minor ones. Sure, it takes long, but doesn't stretch into hours. Rather I prefer putting it for updating right before I go to bed. Generally, I need the phone most when it is not available ;)
