The new Micro @monday podcast should hit your feeds very shortly. I had a great chat with @vishae in Melbourne. She’s more time zones away from me than @rosemaryorchard in Vienna, but @herself in Wellington is still the furthest out.

@macgenie oh no, my audio is only on the left channel. 🤭 Is this because I accidentally sent through the Logic project file instead of the mp3?
@macgenie @vishae You two sounded like you were having the best time, like two old friends reminiscing :-) These microcasts are the highlight of my Monday (and perfect for my evening walks).
@macgenie I sometimes affectionately call the pod people (er, pen people ;-) ) the “pen-and-ink mafia” :-) My junior year roommate was well on his way to being one then; I’m certain he is a card-carrying (ink-carrying?) member now.
Also, re: the part about your old Instagram images, I know a few people here (@colinwalker, @cleverdevil, maybe @EddieHinkle, too) have written “on this day” things for their blogs. Maybe at one point Manton will do something similar for Micro.blog-hosted blogs to surface neat old posts automatically—but as you say, for now you at least have them and can explore the past manually.
@vishae You mentioning your blog process on Geocities gave me flashbacks of how I would update my nav footer across every page on my site every time I added a new page or directory! Sadly, I still have that same update process on the site nowadays, long post-Geocities :-P
@smokey I'm really having fun doing podcasts with people I've never met. But I feel like we Micro people are kindred spirits, so I am not anxious about talking to someone I've never talked to before.
@macgenie do you want me to re-send you the proper mp3 file? If you just email through a file request like last time, I promise I’ll send through the correct file this time. 🙆🏻♀️
@vishae No that’s ok. I think I need to change a Garage Band setting and it will be good. But I’ll have to do it in the morning.
@smokey, @macgenie did an amazing job editing this episode and cutting it down to a manageable timeframe - I swear I just kept talking and talking...
@smokey Yep, I have an “On This Day” feature of my website. My website is mostly Jekyll so it’s definitely possible with Jekyll, but if/when manton decided to implement it, it would probably be easiest to store the posts in some external system rather than integrating it with the actual Jekyll instance. I think On This Day is a great feature. I really enjoy it. I actually wonder if there is some way to build an external service that could follow/parse a site and provide your posts back to you 🤔 Maybe something IndieWeb related that just parses mf2. We’d need to improve the mf2 on some of the m.b themes first though
@EddieHinkle I think overall that’s one of the more interesting features to really come out of the silos (issues with surfacing bad memories aside)—and I think the fact that at least 3 of you here have implemented it for your own sites supports that, too ;-) Having some sort of service that everyone can hook into sounds great (though I worry about the privacy issues around that).
@smokey Privacy issues is definitely a concern, so it’s tough to figure out the best way for people to get the benefit with the most privacy. Relating to the On This Day feature, the bad memories is definitely a concern. I’m working on a feature called “Mute” that allows me to mute the posts I never want to be reminded of
@kulturnation oh, I didn’t know mono audio was a thing in accessibility settings - the things you learn 😮
