Does Facebook consider coercion the same as giving permission, a while back I took these screenshots after a messenger update as part of my collection on evil design patterns… the arrow animates under Ok and the other option is to Learn More, then Not Now, there is NO option.

I remember those screens well from when my dad was installing Messenger on his phone last summer (his 50th class reunion was organized largely via FB); he didn’t think there was an option to not, but luckily he had the good sense to page me and I decided we should try the non-“yes” options and see what happened….
