My 17 year old daughter informed us today that she is taking all colleges in Alabama, Georgia, Missouri, Kentucky, Arkansas, and Ohio off of her potential visit list. She says she wouldn’t feel safe there.

@cheesemaker Very similar to the thoughts I’ve had about living in the south again. I couldn’t do it due to the political climate.
@cheesemaker It feels like living in a nightmare inside of a nightmare these days… :-(
(That said—but also not to downplay or counteract her feelings—the margin of victory of the crook who signed the bill into law was 10x less than the number of voter registrations he cancelled in the prior years. Had there been a fair election without voter supression, it would not be law; GA is a lot more purple than those election results—and even with the supression, it was the closest in modern history. But that only serves to make it more of a nightmare—and still half the people in the state would make her feel unsafe.)
@cheesemaker Interesting. I'm trying to figure out the context here. Is this related to the state's political support or something I've missed in the news?
@EddieHinkle she said that if she’s going out into the world as a single adult woman, the policies being enacted in those states would make her feel unsafe. She is a really smart kid.
