On the latest Timetable I talk a little about today’s new Micro.blog features.

@manton Drafts looks great thanks. One use case I had today: short post I wanted to start on my iPhone with a photo, but I also wanted to add a photo off my Mac before posting.

@Miraz @manton FWIW, although it wouldn’t help me since I’m self-hosted, I have also found myself in that exact same situation several times ;-)

@smokey @Miraz @manton I'll third the support for drafts in particular.

I've already copied a few WIP posts from my current writing app and reckon I'll be able to pretty much dump it altogether, with the Micro.blog web app becoming the all-in-one publishing app I am otherwise unable to get on Windows. Super bonus: this means I can use the same app on my desktop, laptop, phone, and tablet!

@manton I’m sure you’ve considered this but I’d put the “save draft” feature behind the “close post” button. If the field’s not blank, ask the user to save/close. Similar to opening closing an unsaved new document on the Mac.

@davextreme Thanks, that makes sense. I need to sort out whether it should still save a local draft or just switch everything to prompting and saving on the server. (I don't want someone to accidentally end up with a bunch of cluttered un-published posts.)

@manton for beauty and elegance and seamless working - drafts to the server so all devices synching is ideal .... but for when the internet glitch occurs, as happens (for me generally after I have just written a long thought provoking piece in micro blog 😂) ... local ... every time.

@JohnPhilpin Yep, local drafts are still really useful. Maybe we'll sync them later so you can edit offline more easily. (I usually draft longer posts in Ulysses and then copy them into Micro.blog.)

@manton yes I often do that in a text editor of some kind .. but on replies rarely .. and sometimes you just hit a flow

@frostedechoes Oh really? That's a shame. I haven't tested it yet so wasn't aware that was how it worked. Seems counterintuitive, especially if your post is topical, or contains topical information. // @manton

@simonwoods @frostedechoes Thanks, that's a bug. I'll fix it. It should update the date with the time you published it.

@simonwoods i can see drafts on web - am I an idiot for not seeing it on the app - or is it just not there yet … drafts I save on web appear in my posts stream and are marked draft.

@JohnPhilpin It should be available on the Mac app but not on iOS.

@simonwoods yup that’s where I was .. I can see the drafts on the app ... when created on web ... in the posts section ... but can’t seem to be able to start one on Mac app

@JohnPhilpin Oh, that is odd. In the video Manton says "edit on the Mac" but in the post it says "Saving drafts works ... from the macOS app." 🤔

@simonwoods @JohnPhilpin Per the video, File : Save Draft in the Mac app to save as a draft any post you’ve started writing.
