@manton so interesting (the polarisation over AI). I really wanted to be part of a mastodon instance long ago but it required alt text for every single thing and if you don’t do it you’re basically the devil. I never want to exclude those who need alt text but also it took the joy away from sharing so I left. The specific use of AI for alt text is perfection and imo helps rather than harms.
@sim0ne Thanks. Yes, this is why we encourage people to use alt text but don’t require it. Posting should be easy and I think there are ways to remind people without guilting them.
