@sharding I think DNS-based might be more difficult for most people. Is there an example where you think it would be helpful?

@manton You're undoubtedly right that it would be more difficult for most people. It's useful when people can't (or don't want to) edit the header of the page. It also allows verifying entire domains (or subdomains) at once. And in my (admittedly selfish and unusual) case, because my site is just a static page, it was actually quite a bit more work to edit it, check it in, upload it, and clear the CDN cache than it would have been to throw a TXT record or CNAME into DNS.

@manton Eons ago, I was tech lead on Google's webmaster site verification and my experience was that any method is too hard for some people...
