@vasta the memory palace. Hands down. I listen to WAAAAAY toooo many podcasts, but think that Nate DiMeo's memory palace is by far the most beautiful — it exists in an entirely different space, most of the time — part historical, part poetry — all storytelling.

@vasta @eli @amit i even got to having three podcast apps each tracking a specific ‘kind’ ... maybe I should also follow the thinking … that said ... in castro there are already a group of podcasts that I automatically archive without even listening to - so maybe I should just start there.

@vasta I think that the 14 part Seeing White series(Scene on Radio) was stunning storytelling, introspection, and history. My other must listen is the fantastic Eat This Podcast by @jeremycherfas which is about science and culture via the lens of food.

@vasta I’ve been meaning to update that list, since my listening habits have had to change a bit, recently. At the very end of the list I link to an article about critical theory's relationship with podcasts. I think about that article pretty much every single day.

@vasta Yeah, there are just no good techniques for speed listening yet. Anyway to recommend I would go with popular ones - The Truth from Radiotopia and Reply All from Gimlet Media. Must listens.

@vasta I struggle with podcast recommendations or endorsements for reasons I explored here. I second @eli’s endorsement of The Memory Palace, though. It’s one of the very best. (I love the soliciting endorsements over recommendations, & the implicit distinction, by the way.)

@vasta ohhh, first off, I had to favorite this right away so I can keep track.

My definition of must listen is really just "what do I always listen to right away?" Right now, that's a list of three: Do By Friday, Roderick on the Line, and Friendshipping. Common theme: smart, funny, knowledgeable people being awesome.

@vasta I'm a Radiotopia conservative: Nate di Meo's Memory Palace and Benjamin Walker's Theory of Everything are simply beautiful. In other esoterica: Welcome to Nightvale. I listen to all of 99Percent Invisible but I think Roman may be dispersing himself a bit - it's not consistently as good as before

@vasta Reminds me of the time I unsubscribed from over 300 YouTube channels. Had thousands of email notifications in the inbox at one time.

@vasta not sure if you’re a big sports person, but my only Must Listen podcast is the Bill Simmons podcast. Half sports, half media guests.

As far as story goes, I found The Adventure Zone to be a great listen!

@vasta I found Colour Code by the Globe and Mail was amazing. Modern Love is usually great and leads to good conversations in my house. The BBC’s The Documentary tends to have terrific deep dives into issues around the world.

@vasta Try ‘Two Guys on Your Head’. Only 7 minutes long. Other favorites are Flash Forward and The Perfect Country aside from the usual popular ones that others have named.

@vasta I move between podcasts depending on mood. Looks like you’re already familiar with Radiotopia, but I love Love + Radio. Gimlet network worth exploring, as well. My new discoveries that have moved to the top of my list are “Switched on Pop” and “Hurry Slowly.”

@vasta it's SO GOOD. really good for binging, too...I'd recommend starting with Jan 19th episode (or earlier) if you decide to go back and then go chronological, because the story they begin with is referenced for a while and is TRULY UNBELELIEVABLE.
