Micro Monday discussion 📆📢:
Did you separate yourself from traditional social media/blog posts for Micro.blog? If so, how did you do it?
I am looking for advice how to use this as my main avenue versus social going forward.

@alpine Think I am going to do the same with SMS notifications as a back up just in case. Thanks for the reply!
@brianwolf I operate on three levels. My Wordpress site is for professional and work related writing, microblog is for jotting down thoughts, Twitter is for engaging with people in my home country: New Zealand.
@billbennettnz Thanks for the reply. I have moved to Micro after years of WordPress. I like the simplicity over here since I am using in a personal capacity. I’d like this to be my one stop shop for everything.
@brianwolf I left everything except LinkedIn. I downloaded all of my profile content from Twitter, Instagram, and the big bad Facebook, and set them all (plus Pinterest) up for deletion. Of them, I do miss being connected to real friends I don't often see IRL on Facebook. I do not miss doomscrolling (which I now do with Apple News anyway), comparing myself and my life to the lives of all my Facebook friends (that's what strangers are for), rage Tweeting at and about the lunatics running our political system, giving my amateurish photos to Facebook, or trying to think of clever names for Pinterest boards that would impress people who'd memorized every episode of Absolutely Fabulous the way I have. 🤗
@brianwolf I think that's a smart approach. I need the WordPress site for now, but may move everything over in time.
@UndamnedOne Thanks for the reply. That is what is making it difficult to cut it completely so far. There are people I do want to check in on and see content from. I just hate I just have muscle memory to instantly open them up when I unlock my phone.
@brianwolf I host my personal site here—thoughts, links, music, some photos. Hard to get friends and family to interact with a site; newsletter might be more palatable? Keep less than 120 people on IG; it's not even installed right now. I didn't delete accounts but I try to keep phone apps to a minimum.
@scojjac I believe my plan will be move FB/Instagram to select SMS notifications. Then, if need be I log into the mobile site. I do have my micro.blog setup with a newsletter to be sent every Sunday.
