Something I’m trying to figure out: how to post updates on books I’ve read here. I mark books as read on Goodreads but I don’t want to post an entry here each time I’ve read a book. A bookshelf page sounds like an ideal solution but I’m not sure how to do that yet.

@sarvagnan I use the Bookshelves in Micro.blog to note when I’ve finished a book and then use the “New Post…” button to create a draft and add a short comment for posting. I don’t add every book I read, only the ones I want to recommend. Everyone is using Bookshelves a little differently though. Some may be using it together with Good Reads.

@jean That's the solution I'm drawn to but with the reading tracker, I was hoping there'd be a way for me to have books tracked as read but without a separate post on my blog. At the moment, it looks like reading tracking will have to remain in Goodreads

@sarvagnan You can use a separate shelf to mark something as read. Can I ask if you're using Bookshelves in an app or on the web, or both?

@SimonWoods Really? I've been using Bookshelves in Epilogue mainly and I've thought that for it to track something as read for the reading goal, I needed to have a separate post about it.

@sarvagnan Ohhh the reading goal! Yeah, sorry, I didn't catch that.

There might be a work-around for that but it's probably not worth the effort. Given that other people would also like to do this there's a good chance that feature will be eventually added.

I would like it if Micro.blog instead prompted you to post whenever you update the goal, maybe even with suggested content like the book emoji for Micro.blog Discover.
