@manton I’ve noticed that some posts from micro.blog end up with extra newlines when rendered in @ivory.

The Ivory team said they just render what they’re given without transformation.

Any idea what is happening? It seems related to p tags.

@manton Posts are also rendered incorrectly in the official Mastodon iOS app.

@ryanbooker It's a limitation in those apps because they don't completely handle HTML like a web browser would. You'll see in Mastodon on the web, the posts look correct. However, I think it's unlikely the apps will address it, so I do plan to work around it in Micro.blog at some point soon.

@manton social media rarely handles full html though. I guess it’s an argument about where the line is drawn.

I suspect Mastodon on the web only works because it’s a web page rendered using a full html renderer, not through intentionally supporting anything in particular.

For better or worse I agree, I don’t think those apps will shift.

Thanks for looking into it.

@ryanbooker Yeah, with the social web I'd love to see more support for limited HTML. It's really the best foundation for everything (styling, links, quotes) without having to recreate the basics. But it'll take some time.
