Last year there were periods of time when I stopped sending my blog posts to the fediverse. So that’s similar, right? Maybe. Bridgy Fed is an unusual case because of how dramatic the opt-in / opt-out story unfolded.

@manton My understanding is pretty it was a reaction to Bluesky approving and varifying an account for the US gov's immigration and customs enforcement dept.

a previous post of his not long before this one was about ICE and they were just verified on bluesky. I hope that someday soon we'll have a serious public conversation about fedi, the Nazi bar analogy and defederation.

@ariarhythmic literally not the Gestapo (capital G, not small g) as those were the Nazi secret police, and ICE, as bad as it’s been, has not come close to the level of the Gestapo. Please stop with the false equivalence as it dishonors anyone who suffered at the hands of the Nazis.
