It just dawned on me that under Texas rules our teenage daughter can get a Covid vaccine. Doesn’t seem right to sign her up yet though. Not sure. She does want to work this summer.💉

@ronguest Sixteen year olds became eligible in South Carolina today. In fact, everybody is now eligible. We've moved through all the priority groups, apparently, and appointments are much easier to come by.

@ronguest We've been trying to get an appointment for our 16-year-old, no luck yet. It's a little trickier because only Pfizer is approved. My 2 cents: anyone getting a vaccine is going to help everyone else. As supply ramps up, we need to use every dose.

@ronguest If she’s eligible, let her get vaccinated. That way, she’s less likely to be a carrier (some are asymptomatic especially the young).

@manton The “best” ways to get vaccines around here are all using Moderna so I think it will be awhile. I’ll probably wait until either Moderna/JnJ is approved or Pfizer is available through a more rational process.

@pratik It isn’t a matter of letting or not - she wants one and we agree. But the Pfizer vaccine is extremely hard to get in this area. None are going wasted. I’m fine with people who are desperate for a Pfizer vaccine to get theirs before her. That’s not to say we won’t try to get one but I’m not going to go crazy trying. I’m pretty sure in the near future availability will improve. My wife got her (Moderna) vaccine the day after the state started allowing them for her age group. I had imagined it would take a month more.

@ronguest Ah! I misunderstood. Thought there was hesitancy. Yup, get her registered and wait until you get an appointment.

@ronguest Availability is increasing very quickly. We went through a lot of effort and frustration to get our appointments. If we'd waited 2 weeks it would have been easy. So I'd say that for a low-risk person it's best to chill.
