NetNewsWire for Mac was updated for Liquid Glass, and now the iOS update is out too. Nice work. 2026 is shaping up to be the year of feed readers.

@manton 👀 I am slowly ditching Reeder in favour of NewNewsWire, which I used for many years in the past. Hoping that Micro.blog RSS Reader supports it!! 😁

@pcora I’ll do everything I can to support NetNewsWire! At the very least, we’ll sync with Feedbin, but hopefully more than that.

@pcora I use NetNewsWire with FreshRSS - supporting indie developers! :) @manton

@rom I’m reviewing the FreshRSS API. Interesting that it uses the old Fever API.

@manton They actually implement both the Google Reader Compatible API as well as Fever (which they say is “less powerful”): freshrss.github.io/FreshRSS/…

@rom that was my planned route. But now I’m waiting for @manton. But I have time. My reeder subs is valid until December :)

@manton Speaking of NNW, not sure if a bug in the reader or in Micro.blog, but on iOS I have to navigate back with two swipes.

It seems like the web view gets two instances of the same page in its navigation state when opening your feed Manton, only noticing it here.

@bax I think I’ve seen that before too. I’ll try to reproduce and fix it.

@manton thanks for looking into this. FreshRSS uses Google Reader API, too. This is how NetNewsWire interfaces with it.

@pcora I have been self-hosting FreshRSS for several years now. For almost a year, it is housed in my home network, running on a Raspberry Pi (along with other docker containers). Pretty nifty.
