My Todoist is up for renewal on 15th Jan. I’m torn between Microsoft To-Do and NirvanaHQ.
@ridwan I've been using Google Tasks which live in the sidebar next to my calander, for years. But Microsoft To-Do looks interesting. I'm a sucker for trying all the things, but then ending up back where I started though. ¯_(ツ)_/¯
@stevebrady Haha. Never tried Google Tasks.
In that case, I always think NirvanaHQ is better suited for GTD in its purest form. Todoist is OK but I'm over it and fed up with subscription services that doesn't serve me better than free tools.
What app do you comeback to?
@ridwan Google Tasks. It's the most stripped down and simple which really best suits my workflow. But oh am I attracted to all the shinny new toys!
@stevebrady I'm trying to go all-paper, but was very happy with MS To-Do. Looks simple, does everything I want.
@JMaxB @ridwan @timapple @stevebrady Can I come in from left field and suggest the lovely TeuxDeux - teuxdeux.com - app/service?
@timapple I enjoyed using MS To-Do but timed reminders tend to get lost within tasks. I have got too many moving parts so paper will overwhelm me.
@stevebrady The app was ugly when I saw it ages ago. Never bothered with it. 🤣
@joelhamill I did investigate TeuxDeux. I don’t think it handles recurring tasks well like NirvanaHQ or MS To-do. I do like the simplicity of the app but couldn’t justify $30 per year subscription fee for what it can offer.
@JMaxB @stevebrady @timapple
@ohBananaJoe I have advised hundreds of people on a task management solution. Lately, this is what I suggest:
@ohBananaJoe TeuxDeux doesn’t handle recurring tasks well. Eg: if I want to remind me every 17 days. It doesn’t allow that.
Watched few YouTube videos on TickTick and seems a bit complicated. 🤣
I have lifetime plan with NirvanaHQ and this is what I always come back so I have cancelled my Todoist and redoing my GTD system in NirvanaHQ.
@ridwan FTI, I seems to want everything within an app. Apple Pencil compatible, linking, ocr lol
@Munish @rom I use Windows laptop and mobile iOS devices so for me I needed cross-platform apps. Note taking apps tend to do too many things and I always get distracted with it. I really like Standard Notes app's simplicity and focus on privacy. I'm pleased with it!
And, I tried to like Obsidian. It's not for me. It's clunky and bit of an overkill for me.
