Every 2 years I crack open a new Nanami Cafe Note. 2021 has not been great year for the daily journaling practice. Am determined to rekindle this in 2022. Hobonichi calls their planners ‘Lifebooks’. Any book can have this title and everyone should have one.

@kaa Those look like very cool notebooks. Maybe I’ll give one a try when I finish the one I’m writing in now from Chronicle Books.

@richnewman Highly recommend these because of their size and density. I tend to get through half the book every year (give or take), so they are pretty excellent value. Small enough to not be cumbersome if you ever want to take them with you when you are out and about. Like the Chronicle books look (the corners look very BSG).

@kaa Even I slowed down this year on journaling. Maintaining a routine has been a tough task. Sigh!

@kaa In 2020, I got a Leuchtturm1917 daily planner and committed myself to writing something each day. I used the page as my formal constraint, ie, I would stop at the end of that day's page and write no further. I think I missed a total of two weeks all year, most of that because the work-related demands of the shutdown took up so much time and energy. I wasn't journaling per se. My goal was very purposefully to write what might become the seed of a poem. I might try Moleskine's daily planner for 2022. I like the page layout better. For other writing, the Chronicle book has too much front matter for my taste, so I do think I will give your recommendation a try.

@richnewman @kaa Those Nanami books look great, gonna look up if they’re available directly from a Canadian vendor. Leuchtturm’s are also an excellent value and easy to source, though perhaps not as fountain pen friendly as other paper.

@richnewman Great choice, can't imagine how you could be disappointed. Tomoe River paper is not going to be around in this configuration for much longer, so enjoy it as much as you can I guess :).
