@Miraz That’s fantastic! I knew that others would have their own creative ideas. How long have you used that combination of names?
@Miraz All my devices are named after planets and stars in the sky! Main laptops are planets while removable/backup disks are stars. @martinfeld
@purisubzi Awesome! That sounds like it would work really well because if you keep adding devices, there'll always be more names of cosmic bodies, systems or constellations that you can adopt.
@martinfeld When I buy a new device I tend to also find a new name. My guiding principle is: important or noteworthy female.
@martinfeld Indeed! I've been trying to get my friends and family to adopt something for years now, but very few have bitten. I think you really have to be a nerd at heart to do this.
@purisubzi Yes, I agree with you. Still, it’s funny that it’s regarded as a nerdy thing, as general consumers love to personalise devices, whether it’s simply the wallpaper or with accessories like bags and cases.
@martinfeld I used to use names from the Lord of the Rings trilogy, but after the movies came out I found that I this scheme was not unique enough anymore (one night in my hotel room I discovered a total of four devices called Frodo on the network).
@jeroensangers Since then I switched to the Hitchhiker’s Guide to the Galaxy, with Slartibartfast as my main creation device.
@jeroensangers Haha it's hilarious to think about all of these Frodos appearing on the network in front of you! A wise choice to change theme and as popular as Hitchhiker’s is, I'm sure that a name like Slartibartfast would be a safer and more unique option.
