So far my micro.blog posts to Facebook are not being counted as Spam but this case seems to be effecting a few peopleā€¦ hmmm I wonder if third party posting in FB is being penalised in anyway.

@adamprocter There's long been a suspicion that Facebook gives API posts a lower rank in the algorithm, but experiments to prove it have been inconclusive.

@adamprocter problem with Facebook is one can trust nothing they say on what it does or doesnā€™t do. Wonā€™t be surprised if the algorithm penalizes posts from API ā€” they would want people to be present on the platform.

@amit that sounds like yet another reason to not be on that platform. If they are restricting your ā€˜reachā€™ based on your consumption of their adverts, thatā€™s even worse than most imagined.

@dgold Yes, I realised long back that that platformā€™s priority of keeping me all-time involved and my intention of dipping in as when required just didnā€™t gel well. So deleted the account right then. Lifeā€™s been simpler - with one less distraction.

@adamprocter Yep true. But at least hasnā€™t (yet) killed the third party clients where I can stay away from an algorithm. Chronological is fine, as there is no bias or business decisions at play. Day thatā€™s out from the platform, am out too.

@amit šŸ‘šŸ½ I deleted mine couple of months ago (been on it since 2005) and havenā€™t missed it at all.

@pratik exactly. We tend to overestimate how much we depend on an app.
