I really like Elizabeth Warren, largely because she is running on policy. But as @smokey points out: Those policies should not only be on medium, and certainly not behind a paywall!

@DrOct @smokey I'm puzzled by their decision to post on Medium. Usually people do so for exposure since they're afraid no one will find their self-hosted site. But she's a Senator and a Presidential candidate and people will go to read where she tells them to. Are there security concerns?

@DrOct @smokey @pratik This looks especially bad next to Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez quitting Facebook. Warren has to be careful or she will be stuck with out of touch before she even realises the mistake her team has made with Medium.

@pratik @DrOct Right; it’s baffling at best, and selling her power to a silo that, while at least not as bad an actor as Twitter, does not have a good track-record for wild swings in focus.

And if there are security concerns, well, then there are security concerns with the website of a US Senator and major presidential candidate, so…that’s not a good thing. // @simonwoods

@simonwoods @DrOct @pratik Especially when one of your policy positions is to regulate and/or break up tech firms. Medium is no Facebook or Amazon, but at the same time, putting your policy proposals behind a paywall is not so far from Trump using his personal Twitter account for official policy announcements and then blocking anyone he doesn’t like, so that they can’t read the policy announcements.
