@jayeless I agree that a “filter out” option is a better approach. I also like the reminder for descriptive titles or summaries.

Micro.blog has made emoji categories a thing, and clients could support filtering out certain categories (or other words).

@jayeless Thanks for the context on the other discussions I read. I guess most of the regulars are now on Mastodon so it’s hard to keep up. I agree with you in terms of friction so much so that I don’t even bother putting a title to my longer posts. I add categories sporadically and always later and rely on emojis to do it automatically.

I do wish Micro.blog had an option to provide a summary instead of taking the first 280 chars of the post but then I’m unsure if I’ll do even that.

CW seems like a lot of work and I rather not follow/read a person if I’m regular not reading coz of CWs.

@jayeless Thanks for sharing your thoughts. There's a good summary of the various issues.

@jayeless Heh: "on Mastodon… posts admonishing others to use [some] feature"… made me realise that stuff never happens on Micro.Blog and that's one of the wonderful things about Micro.Blog. BTW: animal cruelty is one of my most hated things too … I still have a nightmare image burned in my brain from something I accidentally came across somewhere that someone had linked to without any kind of warning. Yuk.
