Micro Monday is a day to find new people to follow. We also do occasional interest category roll calls. Let’s do a New Year’s topic, instead of a conventional category: Resolution? No resolutions? Big plans? Little plans? What’s happening for you in 2023? Post a reply here.

@jean I’ll start: I am writing a book. This is the year. Not ready to share details yet, but it’s a project that I’ve worked on here and there for years, and it’s time to be finished and/or done.

@jean Last year my aim was to send a children’s story off to some agents. I did that (unsuccessfully) so this year I have the seed of a good idea that I plan to finish and send off. I’m excited about it and look forward to plotting and building the story.

@jean dropping coffee and energy drinks. Not sure this resolution sees even mid-January. Also upped my Apple Watch exercise targets and plan to do so in July 1st as well. And I am planning to write something every day, even if it was just for myself in my Journal.

@jean Congratulations. It seems to announce your project is a good start. I am sure you have a team in place to hold you accountable. Good luck and enjoy the journey. 😎

@jean I’m going to offer a print option for Talk about books. I had been going to do this last year, but then out of the blue Manton added a newsletter feature to Micro.blog so I decided instead to use my spare energy in moving Talk about books from Substack to MB.

@jean trying to work on lifestyle changes vs NY's resolutions, but I wanna commit to buying as few clothes as possible this calendar year and see how that goes! in general, want to keep working on the lifestyle changes I've made in 2022 and keep the snowball of progress going 🙏

@jean I decided spontaneously this morning that I want to try becoming ambidextrous. I’m right-handed but due to a bad fracture of my right arm as a kid, I had to go through life for almost half a year using my left hand predominately.

@jean A few days ago I labelled 2023 as On the Edge of my Tomorrow and will be exploring what that means. It contains a sense of hope and new horizons. I've trimmed my science video RSS feeds and some other feeds and have a fresh focus on looking into Stoicism more. I've created a developing list of books I might read and already bought one. Those books aim to widen my horizons.

@jean my writing plan this year is to practice publishing imperfectly. I want to blog here close to daily about what I’m reading and also do a weekly slightly longer newsletter

@pratik LOL, I don’t know yet. That will be part of the process. Everything I have so far is in Word, which gives you an idea how long it’s been since I started.

@alanralph This is a great plan. It was my 2021 resolution, but eventually got it together in Spring 2022. There are still some loose ends to tie up—stray accounts and policies that need to be switched to the umbrella trust. I felt so much better once I got all that signed. There are probably more digital loose ends to take care of. I hope you’ll blog about your strategies for that.

@jean that’s exciting Jean! Good luck with realising the dream, these things are important. My resolution is to read more paper books instead of digital. Go hunting through bookstores and the library instead of Amazon.

@jean No resolutions, ever. Maybe work to get some new habits sticking, but even that is not currently being planned. The one I know I ought to improve is to revisit the notes I make at intervals after making them.

@jean No big resolutions for the whole year, but I want to get back into doing a monthly review and set monthly goals.

@jean This year, I'm about working on staying in the moment. Beyond the obvious mindfulness implications, this means that while I can (and should) plan, that only occurs in planning times, and not when there is stuff in front of me that needs me. This means making, finding and buying things based on real actual needs, not hypothetical or anticipated requirements. This means remembering what matters and why I am doing what I am doing. I'm looking forward to this!

I'm really excited about your writing! Definitely looking forward to hearing more when the time is right. I hope you enjoy it!

@jean Last year was a big year: two promotions at work, and got elected to a government thing in my town. This year, hoping to just get good at the new things.
