It’s not just you: Apple’s Weather app isn’t working again for some people.
@iChris For me it has been criminally inaccurate to the point that I had to switch apps. Not sure what is going on over there.
@jmanes Yeah up here in Saskatchewan, Canada it's often not accurate even when it is working.
@iChris It’s one of CARROT’s weather sources, and I seem to be having good luck with its accuracy — for my location, at least. Hello Weather also has it as an available source.
@pimoore @iChris @jmanes Yes, agreed! It's been terrible here in Missouri too. Both the performance and the accuracy. And just like Pete I took a cue from CARROT and chose Foreca. Right off I noticed that the radar is so much faster to load in the app. And it's more accurate. I stopped paying for the CARROT premium several months ago but I may actualy pay the minimal amount for a year of Ad-free Foreca. Bonus: excellent widgets on the iPad.
@iChris @pimoore I'm not a fan of subscriptions but I may actually do it in this case, 1 year of Foreca is only $3.49. As I understand it there is actually a bit of cost for them to run the service and that seems like a reasonable amount for 1 year. It's certainly a lot less than I paid for Carrot weather!
@iChris @denny I actually love Apple’s weather app apart from its inaccuracy. It’s much improved from how it used to be, the UI looks modern and clean, and like you said it’s free and built in. Hello Weather (which I have lifetime for) is coming out with a new version and API update at some point. Once that’s out I’ll be evaluating it against CARROT and deciding from there.
