I’ve been happy with NetNewsWire, so when my Feedbin subscription came up for renewal today, I closed the account. They sent me an email about it. Normal. But what was unexpected was they also attached my feeds as an OPML file, just in case. I didn’t ask them to. That was nice.

@jack wow, that’s a very nice touch. I’d be reluctant to ever close my Feedbin account since I have newsletter subs through it, along with YouTube (which I don’t think NNW does natively, though I’m happy to be proven wrong). I’m guessing your newsletters just go through your email?

@pimoore Yes. I seem to be one of the few who still enjoys using email so I don't bother with trying to read/collect newsletters along with other kinds of feeds feeds.

@jack I enjoy email too, it’s more been the case of wanting to read everything in the same place. Though I will say the downside is RSS readers mangling some newsletters pretty badly, forcing me to read it in a web view anyway.

@jack On a side note, check your Hitchens plugin as there have been some changes since your version to fix and update things.

@pimoore Thanks, I'd missed that. Has anyone found a way to break the dependency between plugin versions and settings? I love how well plugins work and how easy they are to update, but I need to remember to re-do the settings each time. No biggie, but still :)

@jack I believe @manton was looking into why that was still being overwritten each time, not sure what he was able to find out yet. In the meantime I’ve been making a mental note to do the same each time I update.

@jack love that “here’s your data if you want to leave” detail. Nice!

@frostedechoes Can’t recall seeing that happen for me, but you can access all the senders and disable them through the web interface. Log into Feedbin in your browser, go to Settings -> Sources, then scroll down to the bottom to view the senders:

@frostedechoes It should as I have some I’ve turned off and they haven’t shown back up.

@frostedechoes Wow, I’m honestly at a loss why it’s not working. Is there an option within the newsletter to unsubscribe directly?

@frostedechoes Well that’s a bit concerning, the iOS app hasn’t seen an update in a year. Not sure about the web version nor the service itself, but it does make me wonder if they’re still active.
