When I go to search for something on the web, the first ten (or twenty) results should not be ways to buy something. That those are the results that I get tells me that things are broken and messed up. Maybe I’m just old and my memory is hazy regarding how things used to be in The Good... explodingcomma.com

@petebrown i am frustrated with where things have gotten too… i think a lot of people are… the endless need to monitize everything… is there a subscription browser service that frees you from adds?… maybe someone should create one…

@mwebb oh yeah! I had forgotten about that one. Still annoying and depressing that we need workarounds like that for what should be basic web functionality, though.

@petebrown Kagi Search (kagi.com) does a pretty good job at cleaning the results. They also have a browser called Orion that’s excellent and provides a clean browsing experience. Their search is a paid service, so it might not suit your needs.
