Well, there goes my day…

I’m fine. Just shaken and very, very, sad. I loved this car. Beatrix has been learning to drive with it. She was going to take it with her to college.
Heartbroken.

@patrickrhone glad your ok. I had a Volvo that was amazing got took out by someone’s hand brake failing rolled down hill and trashed my car. But could have been worse as my car stopped it from rolling into area where kids often played so I had to remind myself it was good the car was hit.
@adamprocter I’m convinced that I would not be typing this right now had it not been for my Volvo.
The guy at the collision place agrees with me.
@patrickrhone I ended up downsizing to a small Peugeot 208 as I don’t drive so much now but when I have to do anything that’s not local I am not convinced in its ability to deal with a crash like a Volvo for sure. But I can’t justify a polestar when I drive so little
@patrickrhone it’s a nice drive to be fair but not the same. Hope you get as much from insurance as you can. I was able to buy another Volvo from my pay out but it wasn’t the same as I had owned the other one from new.
@larand It’ll be near impossible to find a replacement in similar condition for any reasonable amount of money.
@manton Thanks. I think I am. We will see over the next couple of days as the adrenaline dies down.
One of the advantages of doing circus rigging is deep knowledge of how high impact injuries can work.
@patrickrhone So glad you’re okay! (With the size of pickup trucks & SUVs around today, too often with inattentive drivers, I’ve heard more people talking about having “spent up ” to get a defensively-sized/designed vehicle to feel safe.)
@patrickrhone Oh gosh! I’m pleased to hear that you are OK. I can only imagine how much that could shake you up. Take care of yourself. At least you are in a good strong car.
@Parag The guy at the collision place said any other car and I wouldn’t have walked away.
@jeroensangers Thanks. I’ve still reached out to an expert to see if I should get checked out.
@patrickrhone Dang! Glad you’re okay. FedEx had to be moving fast. Maybe too fast for residential?
@patrickrhone dang, that sucks. Likewise, I was nearly hit by a reckless fedex truck while biking this morning who failed to look both ways before pulling out onto a street /:
Hope you come away both unscathed and with a worthy replacement vehicle.
@patrickrhone Oof. I’m sorry. I hope you continue to be physically okay, and hope the mental side is good as well.
@patrickrhone Oh no! So sorry to hear this happened and glad to hear you are ok though.
@patrickrhone A car like that is just metal, no matter what memories you associate with it. The important thing is that everyone involved is okay. I’m glad you weren’t hurt.
