Last week’s debate was a wake-up call for our muddled framing of the issues at stake this year. There are only two things we should be talking about: abortion and democracy. Every other question can have a quick answer and then pivot to those two things. 🇺🇸

@patrickrhone Yes. And I think Dems can do it in a much more honest way than Trump does.

@manton I tend to frame the first of those two as bodily autonomy because I worry about trans and gender diverse people, but it's all part of the same cluster of basic human rights. (Asserting reproductive rights for women presupposes a universal human right to bodily autonomy, and asserting the existance of universal human rights can form the basis for arguments about democracy..)

@markstoneman Yep, to me it's about simplifying the message. People sadly don't have time to think deeply on this, so it's helpful to focus on reproductive healthcare for women knowing that it has positive benefits to many others too.

@manton Agreed. I went to bodily autonomy because of trans youth among extended family and the families of friends. The trans men among them are directly affected by abortion laws too.

@manton does this intentionally leave out Climate (which is literally killing people) because we (you) feel that the undecideds don't understand/care about climate?

@briandigital Hmm, climate should be highlighted too, you're right. I don't know where it fits into the campaign. It's so hard because most people haven't felt the progress with climate and the infrastructure bill yet.
