Where do you pick up audiobooks? I don’t listen at a fast enough pace for Audible, but I’m running out of reasonable options at the library (Libby). Either the wait is months or the books are 18 hours, which I can’t finish before they’re due.

@bjhess I'm not an audiobook listener really so can't speak to quality, but librivox.org might be worth checking out

@bjhess I use Chirp. They have a good selection and frequent sales. Everything is a la carte, no subscriptions.

@palousegeo Nice! Can you only listen to purchase books with their app, or can you also download to save for later. (I’d listen in their app, but like to save purchases to archives on my computer.)

@bjhess I don't know the answer to that. I've only listened using the app on my phone.

@bjhess I buy DRM-free audiobooks from Libro.fm.

@sod I will have to check that out! Looks like even with a subscription, you can download the books to your computer for archival. Nice!

@bjhess Yep, and you don't need a subscription. I just buy the books with either cash or Libro.fm credits, depending on the price.

@bjhess I buy the ones I really want at Apple Books if I can’t get them at the library. On Libby, my first search is on available audiobooks in the subject category I’m interested in (for me: non-fiction/memoir/self-improvement) and check out new books that are available. While waiting for the new Brene Brown for example, I discover four or five books I really enjoy and wouldn’t have searched for.

@jean Why did I not think of Apple Books? Poor Apple Books!

Thanks for the thoughts on discovering through Libby. I get skeptical that I’m randomly grabbing things that aren’t worth my time, but you are sharing that it’s possible for you to find very good reads!

@bjhess chirp and downpour for their deal emails. Libro.fm when I want something specific.

Also try to get into multiple digital libraries.
