@dominikhoecht I sometimes go to the Discovery tab, but usually there are mostly ones I already follow there… @macgenie

@dominikhoecht @odd Discovery is intended to be a slice of Micro.blog life (with caveats), for prospective users to see what the timeline is like, as well as for current users to see the “hello, world” posts from newcomers. We could look into filtering out posts from people you already follow.
@macgenie @dominikhoecht I did want to recommend Discover also. Although it seems it has been not updated for a while (which is fine), so hope to see it keep being updated. Early on in Micro.blog there were just images of people, instead of posts, and I think what we have in Discover now is much better (that’s how I find most people). Although I do miss the profile images and just the picture collage.
@vincent Sorry about the delay in updating Discovery. My birthday weekend took a lot out of me. Manton has started work on a tool to allow additional curators. Hopefully we’ll roll out something soon.
@dominikhoecht I have the exact same experience. @macgenie
@macgenie Thank you for the link to the caveats, as it introduced me to @patrickrhone’s Buddy Bench. What a lovely idea.
@macgenie no problem at all! Wild party 🥳😋 I was going to reach out to see if you had plans of this sort, because it was mentioned before. Would be good to cover the blank spots at least... I mean PARTIES ✌️
@crossingthethreshold It is one of my guiding principles now: is someone reaching out for engagement? Amplify that.
@macgenie Second this idea. I have long wanted a way to filter people I already follow from Discovery.
@dominikhoecht Personally, I find the Discover tab a bit too random but then again, I'm new to this here shore, and I guess the randomness is an integral part of Discover. ;)
That being said, what topics are you interested in? On a related note, how did you fill your existing follow list anyways? Drill-down on the Discover page?
@dominikhoecht Thanks for the answer. I'll keep checking the Discovery tab, then.
I started blogging in 1999 (ugh) but it seems like the past decade of social media use has rewired my brain when it comes to discovering new people's blogs etc. I feel a bit unsure about what to do next here in order to get people to read my words. Another thing to relearn, I guess.
I do appreciate the calmness around here, it reminds me so much of my own blogging sites back in the day, though… ;)
