@brentsimmons Thanks for your story. I'm weary of Facebook, Twitter, whatever, and so I'm finding Micro.blog as a refreshing place to visit and hang out. I've recently been told of some of the awful treatment YouTube posters receive from the crazies out there. To me it's really about Public-Personal-Private realms. I'm not liking the Public - Personal feels about right. Take care.

@brentsimmons interesting commentary. I was jumped on in twitter in a case of mistaken identity and accused of racism, was horrible, don’t recall too much of the details now but had to try and rapidly defend the mistake as people piled in on me. Thankfully as requested tweets where deleted and such although I recall no apologies. As a public educator this was super important.
I stand on no sides in this particular debate as I know very little on any celebrity culture or past issues but as web / digital tool builders we must really think about these things and make sure the community is open but also has tools to report , seeing whether there is a wider issue calling in moderators etc. and tools to block, I personally don’t want to see this persons posts in my timeline etc.
Things like ethical design and ethical os I hope will play a role, along with my main thing that’s of humanity centred design 😊
