š² Had Swedish meatballs and mashed potatoes, with a dash of lingonberries.
@odd That reminds me, when I try to tell people about lingonberries (esp. because of Al Johnson's), I like to use the analogy of:
blueberries :: huckleberries cranberries :: lingonberries
It's not perfect, but it helps.
@toddgrotenhuis I donāt believe that Iāve ever tasted cranberries or huckleberries.but Iāll take your word for it. That Swedish dine-in/store have typically Swedish merch. Lingonberries are all over Scandinavia though. In Norway they are called, not lingon/lingonbƤr, but tyttebƦr.
@jean They are/were famous for those, however, I read somewhere that they were going to only serve vegan or vegetarian ones going forward. Not sure if they taste the same.
@odd Raw cranberries taste dry (they are fairly acidic) and are mostly full of air, but they have a pleasant flavor and pop in your mouth (because of the encapsulated air). They are mostly eaten in jams/jellies/juices.
@Archimage Sounds wonderful! I have to try those one time. We do have a delicatessen(?) store in Oslo, Iāll try them.
@odd Cranberry juice is also good in helping dissolve oxalic kidney stones. I try to drink a lot of it.
@odd Youād know if you did. Iāve had and have them now. The pain is worse than giving birth, I hear. I believe it.
@odd Ah, no, my comment was on the original post. Didn't read the rest of the conversation until now but I'm sure the vegan ones will be fine as well.
@Archimage I remember vividly how my uncle was contorting in pain. Another uncle on my fatherās side also had it, (I remember now), and when he got it out, he took it home and had it on a jar, in disinfection alcohol.
@Archimage I can see how that is unpleasant to say the least. I sure hope I donāt have to deal with this. š
